THC vs CBD – What’s the difference?
10 January 2024THC vs CBD – What’s the difference?
Visibly speaking, the molecular structure looks very similar, yet the two cannabinoids differ dramatically in how they work within our bodies. In this post we will delve in on what makes each of them unique. But first, let’s address their similarities.
Both are cannabinoids, which are a type of molecules that are naturally produced by cannabis plants. They both work with receptors within our body to activate certain physiological and psychological processes through the Endocannabinoid System, which we will cover in more detail in our upcoming post.
So what is different?
Possible Effect | THC | CBD |
Anti-inflammatory | ✅ | |
Analgesic (Pain relieving) | ✅ | At higher doses |
Psychotropic (Feeling High) | ✅ | |
Euphoria | ✅ | |
Increases Appetite | ✅ | |
Calming | Depends | ✅ |
Decreases Nausea | ✅ | |
Increases Sleepiness | At lower doses | At higher doses |
Of course it is important to note that due to almost a century of cannabis prohibition, existing research is still very limited and since all our bodies are different, these cannabinoids tend to affect each person somewhat differently. Another key point to consider is that THC and CBD are just 2 of hundreds of active ingredients that are in cannabis plants which collectively dictate many of the effects the consumer experiences.
At NYC BUD we don’t discriminate against any cannabinoids. Having both NYS Adult Use Cannabis and Hemp Cannabinoid Licenses allows us to offer the widest range of products to cater to your needs.
